In this section, we will learn how to export our NAPLAN (NSW) data for use in SPAstandard.
Step 1.
Navigate to Scout and login to PowerBI.

Step 2.
Click on NAPLAN Extract.

Step 3.
Choose which Calendar Year and which Year Level. Also correctly select whether the results will be under the NAPLAN Online or NAPLAN Paper testing sections.
Step 4.
Click the three dots (...) and choose Export Data.

Step 5.
Select .CSV file format from the drop-down menu and export the file. The file will now be saved on your computer.

Step 7.
Repeat the process from Step 3 to Step 7 for any remaining year levels for which the NAPLAN testing was conducted within the calendar year.
Step 8.
Open each individual file and insert a column to the left of 'column A'.
EXCEL HELP:
To insert a column, click in the grey header labelled 'A', this will highlight the current 'column A' (school name).
Then right-click and choose 'insert'. This should insert a column to the left, therefore creating a new blank column 'A'.

Step 9.
Type in 'Year' as the header for Column A and then insert the correct calendar year for the data, filling down so that the same year fills all rows.
EXCEL HELP:
To quickly fill down the calendar year, input the calendar year into cells A2 & A3. Then highlight these two cells. Move your cursor over to the bottom right-hand corner of these two cells, waiting to see your cursor icon change to a black + symbol. Then either double click your left mouse and the year will fill down or alternatively, if this does not work, instead hold down the left mouse and drag down until you reach the last row of data.

Step 9b.
Check the file for missing student IDs in the column labelled SRN. If any are missing, add the correct student ID number(s).
Step 10.
Save the file and proceed to upload the files to SPA.
